LIGHT

Lighting is key to capturing your dream photos in paradise during your Hawai’i trip. It brings out the details, adds depth, and creates the perfect atmosphere with highlights and shadows. It’s what turns a good photo into a great one. Trust us, it’s a game-changer!

TRIPOD

A tripod is your BFF, no matter if you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family.

Isn’t it frustrating when you ask someone to take your photo, and it doesn’t turn out as perfectly as you envisioned? Say goodbye to blurry photos, awkwardly cropped frames, or missing moments! These tripods will help you capture the images you’ve always dreamed of, with no hassle.

This is our favorite Tripod! We absolutely love it. It’s tall enough to capture multiple angles, just like someone would if they were taking the shot for you. It also works as a selfie stick, the base is ultra-stable, even in windy conditions (a must-have, especially in Hawai’i!), and the Bluetooth remote lets you snap photos and videos with just one click. It’s the perfect companion for effortless, high-quality travel memories.

A Flexible Tripod with octopus legs is a game-changer for capturing perfect shots in places where a regular stand just won’t fit.

This tripod offers exceptional stability, supporting up to 1kg of weight. The legs made of high-quality, thickened metal, reforced with rubber coating and compact foam, and can be placed anywhere—on a pole, a tree, or even a rock—to help you capture those dream angles. Plus, with the wireless remote, you can snap shots from up to 30 feet away and easily switch between portrait and landscape modes.

GOPRO

GoPro is our ultimate partner when it comes to adventure content. The rugged, waterproof design of GoPro cameras makes them ideal on-the-go adventures. These features let you place your camera in locations you never imagined, giving you endless creative possibilities to capture your story.

The quality is incredible (4K – 5.3K), but compact enough to fit anywhere, making it the perfect travel companion.

Here are our four favorite perspectives and the accessories you can use to take your photography to the next level!

HANDHELD MOUNTS

Super convenient and perfect for switching between selfie shots and outward POV. They help add extra stabilization to your photos and videos, making your footage smoother. Some mounts are also great for capturing large group selfies! They’re small, lightweight, and easy to pack for any trip.

Pro tip: Hold the mount by your side with the camera upside down, or get low to the ground for fun shots when chasing smaller subjects.

BODY MOUNTED

GoPro’s most iconic and immersive shots. These angles capture your arms, hands, and body in action, allowing viewers to experience your activity as if they were right there with you. It’s a unique way to bring your content to life.

Pro tip: For hands-free filming, try using body-mounted mounts like the Chesty or Head Strap. When paired with voice control, you can fully enjoy the moment while capturing your story.

STATIONARY

Stationary shots are perfect for capturing scenes in a specific area, whether you’re using a tripod or simply resting your camera on a flat surface. These shots are great for activities that take place in one spot or for getting the perfect photo.

Pro tip: For a unique perspective, try placing your camera lower to the ground, angled upward. For example, place your GoPro in a hole on a sandy beach and capture an interesting upward angle of you and your partner.

GEAR MOUNTED

A hands-free way to capture action-packed shots while keeping your focus on the activity. They’re perfect for sports involving helmets, paddle boards, handlebars, or poles. These mounts let you stay in the frame while immersing the viewer in the action.

Pro tip: When kayaking or skiing, use the handlebar or seat post pole mount to turn your pole into a dynamic selfie stick for more creative angles.

Don’t forget the GoPro Quik app! It automatically uploads your videos while your camera charges, creates highlight reels, and lets you edit across devices. With features like 1080p streaming, slow-mo, and unlimited cloud storage, you’ll never run out of space. Plus, you get discounts on GoPro gear. The app is free, but some features need a purchase.

DJI DRONE

Even if you’re not into sharing on social media, a drone is still an amazing travel companion! It lets you capture your memories from a whole new perspective and experience a destination like never before. Even if it’s a place you’ve been to countless times, a drone offers a fresh, unique view that will change how you see it.

We always choose DJI for its reliability, innovation, and user-friendly designs. Their drones offer top-notch camera quality, precise control, obstacle detection, and long battery life, perfect for both beginners and pros.

Also, DJI Virtual Flight is a mobile app by DJI’s flight simulator team, designed to help you sharpen your FPV flying skills. Whether you’re a beginner or already know how to fly, it’s a fun, interactive way to practice and perfect your techniques in a virtual environment before heading out into the real world.

We currently use the DJI Mini 4 Pro, but we have two top favorites:

DJI MINI 4 PRO

The DJI Mini 4 Pro is an easy-to-use drone that takes high-quality photos and videos with vibrant, true-to-life colors. It has a big camera sensor, a wide lens, and shoots smooth 4K video. You can fly it for up to 47 minutes, and it has sensors to help avoid obstacles. With features like long-distance control and automatic tracking, it’s perfect for both beginners and experienced users who want to create stunning content.

CONTROLLERS

The DJI RC 2 because it eliminates the need to connect your phone, making it faster, easier, and more convenient to use. And the DJI Goggles 3 and DJI Motion 3 take the experience to a whole new dimension.

DJI AVATA 2

The DJI Avata 2 has a 1/1.3-inch sensor, which means it captures clearer and more detailed photos and videos, especially in low light. The 12MP photos refer to the image resolution, meaning the photos have 12 million tiny pixels for better detail. 4K video is ultra-high-definition, offering sharp, clear footage. The drone’s top speed of 16 m/s (about 57 km/h) means it can fly pretty fast, and the 13 km range means it can stay connected and fly up to 13 kilometers away. The 46GB internal storage allows you to store lots of footage without needing extra memory cards.
