SNORKELING ON MAUI

This island is home to some of the most protected bays, calm seas, clear waters, and vibrant sea life, making it perfect for year-round snorkeling! And don’t forget Molokini Crater, which boasts some of the clearest, bluest waters on Earth!

You can snorkel from the shore at some beaches, but for the ultimate experience, let the locals take you to the best spots on a guided tour. We’ve handpicked the best tours for you to make your decision easier!

DON’T GO SNORKELING OFF THE COAST OF MAUI UNTIL YOU’VE READ THIS:
  • Check the Weather and Visibility Reports. We recommend the Maui Snorkel Report from the Snorkel Store (Website). Only go if conditions are 6 or higher!
  • Use Mineral Based sunscreen to protect marine life. Maui requires it, too!
  • Don’t snorkel alone for safety and let a friend know where you’re heading.
  • Don’t touch or step on the coral! Coral is alive and is responsible for producing %50 of earth oxygen.
  • Don’t take natural souvenirs with you (sand, coral, rocks, etc.)
  • Don’t disturb marine life.
    • Always stay 15 ft away from Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honus).
    • Always stay 50 ft away from Hawaiian Monk Seals. Report sightseeing to NOAA’s Marine Wildlife Hotline at +1 (808) 256-9840
  • Protect our beaches, oceans and don’t leave trash behind!
  • Be Kind. Spread the Aloha.
KNOW THIS BEFORE YOU GO
  • We highly recommend checking out our “What to Bring in Hawaii” guide to help you prepare!
  • Be sure to book your tour in advance, as spots can fill up quickly. It’s also a good idea to give the company a quick call the day before—just to confirm everything is set. If the weather looks uncertain, don’t hesitate to ask about alternative options or the chance to reschedule.
  • Even if you don’t usually get seasick, it’s a good idea to take some motion sickness medicine. You want to fully enjoy this once in a life time experience. Try this iPhone trick to take photos without feeling sick!
  • For this adventure, we recommend bringing a reliable underwater camera to truly do it justice. Whether you’re going for wide scenic shots, close-ups of marine life, or dynamic action angles, the right gear makes all the difference.
